Do dogs perceive speech similarly to humans? A recent work by Morvai et al. suggests that dogs develop a focus on consonants to identify words, resembling results observed in humans. This is likely the result of massive exposure to language combined with an evolutionarily ancient ability to track regularities in the signal.
