This study examines the scientific communication structures of the journal "Psychiatrie, Neurologie und medizinische Psychologie", the leading journal for these disciplines in the GDR. The aim is to reconstruct patterns of reception and networks of actors during the period from 1980 to 1986. The study is based on a bibliometric citation analysis combined with network analysis methods. To this end, a database was created in Microsoft Access containing 10,490 records, comprising 618 main articles and 9,872 reference entries.
