Veterans experiencing suicidal thoughts are more likely than nonveterans to face elevated suicide risk, yet many continue to encounter barriers to mental health care, according to new research published in the November issue of Psychiatry Services . The study examined service use and obstacles to treatment among adults with recent suicidal ideation, finding that significant gaps remain even as suicide prevention efforts and mental health services have expanded within and beyond the Veterans Health Administration (VHA).
